METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE VIDEO SHOWS STEALTH GAMEPLAY

Latinum Games has released a new video for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Once again, the video shows more gameplay, but this time, more on the stealth side of things. The video focusses on a sewer level where you are encouraged to get by without alerting too many enemies.

Judging from the video, it looks like the cardboard box is making a comeback as well. The video also gives us a glimpse of the customisation options that will be present in the game. One of these options includes the ability to wear a poncho and a sombrero.The company had recently released a trailer that showed off some of Raiden's new moves. The biggest new gameplay mechanic is the ability to slow down time and pick the direction of your attacks.

Back in November, Konami revealed the pre-order bonuses and the limited edition version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The Limited Edition comes with a 30 cm figurine of the main protagonist of the game—Raiden—in his cyborg ninja form. The pre-order bonus has a steelbook cover and a DLC that unlocks Raiden's Inferno Armour, which increases the number of throwing weapons he can carry.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is set in the near future, where cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system that had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain increasing power. Furthermore, large ‘Private Military Companies’, or PMCs that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organisations. These renegade PMCs employing cyborg technology have become increasingly more disruptive, shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC ‘Maverick Security’, Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past and carving through anything that stands in his way.

The game marks a big change in the Metal Gear franchise. Instead of the stealth gameplay and badass protagonist the series is famous for, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is more of a spectacle action game with big, flashy combos and intense fights, much like games like Devil May Cry, God of War and Platinum’s own Bayonetta. As for the protagonist, the game is forgoing anyone named Snake and instead has chosen Raiden.

Raiden first made his debut in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Solid Snake was as a decoy protagonist for the first couple of hours of the game, which then switched the focus to Raiden until the end. Raiden was widely hated for being an extremely whiny character as opposed to the extremely badass Solid Snake, who is the main protagonist of the series. Not much is known about what happened to Raiden between the events of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, where he returns halfway through the game as a cyborg ninja.

During the events of Metal Gear Solid 4, Raiden helps Solid Snake defeat the Patriot system, that has taken over the world and is spreading war and panic to drive the new 'War Economy', which would be run by mercenaries and soldiers buying weapons.

Skype  Chang is going now to change our life,Skype has officially rolled out its app for the Symbian FP1 and FP2 devices making the VoIP service now available through the Nokia Store. This video calling application had been available for a while for Symbian devices, however, it was previously not available for users owning FP1 or FP2 handsets such as the Nokia 808 PureView as the app had been pulled from the Nokia Store some time back.

In this rollout, Symbian FP1 and FP2 users would be able to enjoy all the benefits of Skype on their phone and allow a user to stay in touch with their friends and family while on the move.

The file size for the Skype app is 4.88MB and to download the video calling application, head on to the link here.In related Symbian news, in October it had been reported that after the problems that Nokia faced with the Belle FP2 OS update for some phones including the 603, 700 and PureView 808, Nokia had finally fixed all the issues in the update, and released it again for download.Some of the features in the update include a swipe to unlock screen, a new camera UI, and some minor tweaks to other UI elements like the navigation bar and the widgets. Another major feature of the update is that the keyboard will now offer word completion and predictive text.

The issues faced by some Nokia users included the update itself not installing, and issues with other parts of the updated software. Disgruntled users have been discussing their problems with the update on this thread in the Nokia Discussions forum. Nokia is investigating these complaints, and will release the update again once all the issues have been resolved.

In August, Nokia had released the Belle Refresh update for its Symbian phones. Some of the features of the Belle Refresh update include an updated browser that has support for HTML5 web apps, a new set of home screen widgets, and Nokia Maps Suite 2.0, and the Nokia N8 got some extra apps for imaging.

Back in July, Nokia Belle devices had received a small update that allowed SkyDrive integration with the phones. The report stated that Belle-powered smartphones were getting an ‘Upload to SkyDrive’ option that allows automatic photo upload to Microsoft’s cloud storage solution, SkyDrive. The 170KB update was made available via ‘SW update’ application on Nokia smartphones and needed a restart.

This follows Nokia's launch of the Belle Feature Pack 1 update for the 700, 701 and 603. The update brought with it some cool additions like an overclock on the processor front for more power. However, the degree of overclock depended on the phone itself. Some sound enhancements like Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Headphone were also a part of the update. Nokia added about 20 new widgets and a better browser and some minor tweaks as well as changes to the multitasking and notification area.

LG OPTIMUS 2X UPDATE

According to a post on XDA, the Ice Cream Sandwich firmware V30a is the official version for the European users of LG’s former flagship smartphone and this indicates that LG is broadening the reach of Android 4.0.

With this update, users should now witness improved performance along with a range of the latest Google apps to the smartphone as well. These applications include the likes of Google Chrome, Gmail and Google Calendar.

For those in the dark, LG had announced the Optimus 2X last year and it even earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s First Dual Core Smartphone to officially make it to the shelves for general public. Since then, owners of the smartphone have been left in the dark whether their devices will be treated with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or not. The last bit of information prior to this was in August when LG tweeted stating Korean users of the LG Optimus 2X would start receiving the Ice Cream Sandwich update.

According to an earlier report by GSMArena, “LG Optimus 2X users must be getting sea sick of all the back and forth - LG committed to upgrading its former flagship to Android 4.0 ICS nearly a year ago, then there was a delay and then LG Canada tweeted that the update just won't happen.” It goes on to state that it could be just the Canadian users of the smartphone who would not receive the update. With this tweet by LG, we know that at least in Korea, the Optimus 2X users will receive an upgrade to Android 4.0.

The report goes on to state, “The ICS update for the Optimus 2X was targeted at some time in Q3, so LG still has a month and a half. It seems that the LG Optimus 3D P920 will also be getting in on the ICS update action, but we couldn’t find a reference to the Optimus Black (which was also denied an update by LG Canada).”

1080P GALAXY NOTE II

Vice President Yu Chengdong Of Huawei has confirmed that the company has plans to launch a smartphone that will compete directly against the Galaxy Note II. This handset is expected to be called the Huawei Ascend Mate and the highlighted feature will be its massive 6.1-inch Full HD 1080p display, a report by BGR states.

As per the report, the Huawei executive claimed that the upcoming handset will be more powerful than the Galaxy Note II as it will feature a cooler design, slimmer bezel, better grip, a more stunning display and will also have a longer battery life. Chengdong went on to further state that those interested in buying a larger-sized smartphone should wait for the offering from Huawei as it is supposedly better and also less expensive.

As of now, details have been scarce regarding this upcoming model from Huawei and the only specifications that are available are the rumours mentioning that it will come equipped with a 6.1-inch Full HD 1080p display, an in-house 1.8GHz quad-core processor and will feature 2GB of RAM.

From the looks of it, handsets are appearing to get a lot bigger and the line between smaller 7-inch tablets and large smartphones are getting increasingly slim.

This is not the first large handset from Huawei. In October, Huawei announced the Ascend D2 a quad-core handset with a large 5-inch display. The handset competes with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note, Note II and the LG Optimus Vu, which are all currently available in the market.

The Huawei Ascend D2 features a 5-inch display with an HD resolution, and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. The Huawei Ascend sports a 13MP rear camera while the 1.3MP camera found in the front can be used for video calling. The handset features a 3,000mAh battery that should keep the handset charged for a significant amount of time. It is loaded with Android v4.1 Jelly Bean.

In late November, this handset made an appearance on the GLBenchmark and through this benchmarking tool we saw that the handset runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Through the System tab on the benchmark we saw that the handset will feature a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and a 5-inch screen with a resolution 1800 x1080 with navigation buttons. The actual resolution of the device is 1920 x 1080 pixels.As of now, there is no certainty of what processor will be used on this device but based on the fact that Huawei have used the K3V chip on the Ascend D Quad, it is likely they will use something similar on this high end handset. The GLBenchmark also reveals that the GPU is manufactured by Hisilicon Technologies.

As of now, there is no word on the global availability of this handset but it is expected to be launched in China in early 2013.

As far as the announcement of the Huawei Mate is concerned, rumours suggest that it should be at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 in early 2013.

Facebook account can now use its messenger service. Facebook has opened up its messenger service to people who aren't registered with the social network, and you can now use Facebook Messenger to chat using only your name and mobile number.

Facebook updated its Android app yesterday to embrace a wider audience base by removing the necessity to be a Facebook member to use the messenger service. It could help in enticing more non-members to use Facebook services while giving existing users a bonus by letting them chat with friends who are not on the social networking website.Earlier this week rumours were rife about Facebook looking at acquiring cross-platform instant messaging service Whatsapp, but the social networking giants has put an end to all of it by expanding its already existing chat service to encompass IM too. Facebook will be trying to cash in on the fact that using their messenger service will help cut down on the cost of sending out SMSs.

At the Le Web Conference in Paris, Peter Deng, Director of Product at Facebook, said, “The SMS protocol has been around for 20 years. It’s designed for these old phones, and they don’t take advantage of the location features, the touch screen, the picture taking that today’s phones have and that’s why we invested in it.” He added that a lot of people have had to open email accounts just so that they could access Facebook, and the newer version of Messenger will allow more people to benefit from Facebook services without the hassles of signing up.

“As a result of focusing on mobile, for the past year and a half, we've been investing a lot in mobile messaging. We've noticed that people have wanted more than SMS can provide. We want to let people connect with each other and feel like they're in constant communication,” said Deng.

 

Even though the roll-out is currently for Android and scheduled at a later time for iOS, Facebook is looking to add more feature phones to the fold. Deng noted that the site is accessed by 7,000 different devices every day. He said that Facebook is looking at adding new kinds of users to their kitty; users who have not signed up, yet can access Facebook features like photos. But the focus will remain on messenger for Facebook added Deng.

According to the Director, in India and Indonesia, carriers are going to provide low-cost data plans for people who want to use only Facebook Messenger. Facebook joining the IM fray may just lead to popular apps such as Whatsapp and Kik Messenger suffering in India.

Nokia Lumia 620, the third and most affordable smartphone in its range of Windows Phone 8 devices. Nokia claims that Lumia 620's body uses a new dual-shot colour technique to deliver a variety of color and texture effects. Dual-shot adds a second layer of coloured, transparent or translucent polycarbonate on top of a base layer to produce secondary colour blends and depth effects. One can add a personal feel to the handset as there are seven different exchangeable shells to choose from. The Nokia Lumia 620 is powered by Qualcomm's SnapdragonS4 Plus processors.

"We continue to execute on our strategy to reach new audiences and new markets," said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices. "With its innovative design, the latest Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at this price point."

The features shared with the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are the camera lenses. The Cinemagraph lens adds simple animations to still photographs, while Smart Shoot creates a single shot from multiple images, and removes unwanted objects from the pictureBundled apps include Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport and the exclusive Nokia City Lens. Nokia City Lens displays information about local surroundings overlaid onto buildings as seen through the camera viewfinder. Nokia Music, which provides free streaming of ad-free tracks without registration or subscription and the ability to download playlists for listening offline, is also bundled.

The Nokia Lumia 620 will be available in a range of colors including, lime green, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black. Priced at USD 249, which roughly translates to approximately Rs 13,600, excluding taxes and subsidies, the Nokia Lumia 620 will begin selling in January 2013 in Asia, followed closely by Europe and the Middle East before expanding further.

Google employee teases the Internet with Key Lime Pie comic

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean stepping out the door and onto devices, eyes are slowly focusing on Google to see what their next major mobile OS, rumoured to be called 'Key Lime Pie', is all about. Playing along these lines, Google employee Manu Cornet has drawn a comic on his Google+ profile showing the evolution of Android, and the last Android mascot is depicted eating a Key Lime Pie. This has prompted the Internet to go into a flurry and state that this is a confirmation that Google will indeed call its next mobile OS 'Key Lime Pie'. However, Cornet has dismissed this and stated that people should not read too much into it as the comic was drawn merely for fun.

Though it is widely speculated that Google will name its next Android OS Key Lime Pie, there is no confirmation regarding the same. It should also be noted that Cornet is part of the Gmail team and would not have much insight into the plans of the Android team, and hence you should take it with a pinch of salt.

 However, if the next Android does turn out to be called Key Lime Pie, this would be the place where it's been first revealed.

Google announced the latest version of Android OS, 4.2, in late October, and like its predecessor it too was named Jelly Bean.

The camera app on Android 4.2 features what Google calls Photo Sphere, which enables users to take high resolution, 360-degree photographs on all axes, resulting in pictures that look very much like Google Street View. You will instantly be able to share the photograph on whatever medium you desire, including Google Maps, if you want to make the picture public.

The new keyboard on Android 4.2 also supports gesture-typing. This allows you to type out words by sliding your finger across the keyboard over letters that are part of the word, without having to tap individual letters on the screen. This is a lot like Nuance's Swype keyboard that's commonly found pre-installed on Samsung devices.

Another big feature in the new version is the ability to have multiple user profiles on tablets. This allows users to share their tablets without fear of their privacy being compromised due to another person using the same device. Users can have a separate profile with different accounts, settings and apps for different members of the family, for instance. Schools could use the same tablets for different children from different classes.

Another major feature of the latest version of Android is the update to Google Now, a service that Google introduced with Jelly Bean. The service now alerts you of flight and hotel recommendations, nearby attractions, photo spots, movie times, and concert timings. All this comes thanks to the new Knowledge Graph, which, according to Google, gives you more information on things you didn't even know you were looking for. While looking for websites, the new Knowledge Graph could lead you to more in-depth information on subjects that are closely related to your search.

The update will also add Miracast functionality to the Android platform. It will allow users to display the content playing on their screens to a TV, DVD Player, or any other device that supports Miracast. A trade name for Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast is an 802.11n compatible network for display-sharing.
