BIOHACKING VS. BODYHACKING

Biohacking is all about making humans healthier, happier, and stronger with the vision of double humans' potential lifespan. The term Biohacking is relatively new. It was coined by Dave Asprey, founder of Bulletproof Nutrition Inc., author, Silicon Valley investor, technology entrepreneur, and the Father of Biohacking. 

According to Dave Asprey's own definition and which was, by the way, incorporated to Merriam Webster's in 2018, Biohacking is the art and science of changing the environment around you and inside you so you have full control over your own biology. 

Biohacking is about optimizing human performance. By using science, advanced technologies, and vast amount of data collected by wearables biohackers live up to the promise of an improved health, wellbeing, and nutrition, enhanced productivity and energy levels, improved quality of sleep and optimized physical activity. 

Who can resist submitting to the promise of youthful looks and a healthier, longer life? However, there are many things that need to be learned first. To begin with, let's not confuse biohacking with bodyhacking. 

Some people tend to confuse biohacking with bodyhacking. They are not the same. 

Bodyhacking, has nothing to do with biology or chemistry, for starters. And some biohacking has nothing to do with a human's body. That is pretty much the first differentiator.

Bodyhacking is usually linked to wearable technologies. Some wearables monitor biological or health data. Some other wearables provide Augmented Reality enhancement of the vision; these wearables are currently used by industries such as healthcare and construction. These are examples of bodyhacking, not biohacking. 

On the other hand, biohacking is about manipulating the biology of the brain or the body itself in order to enhance performance. Some aspects of biohacking, though, may include bodyhacking as well. 

A few things associated with biohacking include: 

Boosting life expectancy 

Boosting their life expectancy can be done by anyone following some simple habits such as following an improved diet that is usually plant based, exercising regularly, no smoking and reducing alcohol consumption, and improving the quality and amount of sleep. Boosting life expectancy sometimes implies a series of lifestyle changes. These are basic steps for anyone who wants to dip their toes in the biohacking world. 

Longevity 

Biohacking claims that enhancing and optimizing human performance leads to longevity. Biohackers focus on longevity through everything they do in order to upgrade their life and lifestyle. 

Nutrition, stress management, exercising, intermittent fasting, meditation, sleep tracking for an improved sleep, and supplements that are preferably natural and plant based are some of the things that can lead to longevity. Basically, live healthy, live long and prosper. 

Cryotherapy 

Cryotherapy is a cold therapy or ice treatment. By bringing the body temperature down at the tissue and cellular level biohackers claim it is possible to achieve therapeutic benefits and increase your metabolism. However, cryotherapy must be supervised by experts since along with the benefits there are also a few side effects and contraindications.

Cryotherapy can involve treatments with cold packs or ice packs to whole chambers. An introductory level of cryotherapy is to take cold showers for three days in a row for 10 seconds letting the shower hit the forehead. According to Dave Asprey, after day four it feels great. This is not something I am willing to try, though.

A version of cryotherapy in Finland is called avanto. This is a common practice in winter, especially alternating with sauna. It involves making a hole in the ice covering a lake and swimming in the frozen waters for a few minutes. Those who do this regularly say that it is invigorating and energizing. A few minutes of sauna and a good cup of hot coffee afterwards bring the temperature up.  

Osteogenic machines 

Biohackers claim they can strengthen bones in a matter of minutes by using high-tech machines called osteogenic machines, which are based on the science of osteogenic loading. Weight bearing exercises can improve bone health stimulating bone building and preventing or fighting bone loss.

This is based on the theory that it takes four times your body weight to grow and increase your bone density. This is done by high impact loading, which done only once a week for a few minutes, not more than ten with some exercises requiring just a few seconds. That should be more than enough for an optimized training, leaving long hours at the gym in the past.

Nootropics (smart drugs)

The Biohacking culture has grown so much in the recent few years that dedicated conferences and events are being held around the world. The next Biohacking Summit takes place in Helsinki, Finland in December.

NESA VIRUS FILE (.NESA RANSOMWARE)

Nesa Virus is a file-encrypting Trojan that makes the files of the innocent victim unreadable. This cryptomalware appends Nesa Virus or similar as an extension to all files that it manages to compromise. Once the complex process of changing the core structure of your data ends, you may lose access to everything valuable to you like your photos, documents, notes, videos, etc. Just like all ransomware Trojans, Nesa Virus will keep them encrypted until the victim feels he has no other choice but to pay the ransom. This decision is not supported by the cyber security industry for several different reasons, which will be explained later in the article.

Main Activity	Infects the computer after which encrypts important documents and holds them hostage until a ransom is paid.

 How Does the Infection with Nesa Virus Begin?

The developers of this ransomware try to deploy it to the computers of the victims via a variety of clever tactics. The hackers most commonly rely on spam email campaigns to reach the unsuspecting PC users. With only a few clicks, the cyber criminals may send the payload of Nesa Virus towards hundreds or even thousands of users at once. This process also involves very little operational costs and a high success rate, which explains why it is so preferred. While the spam emails is a single tactic, it can come in very different forms. The hackers may try to look as if the malicious message was coming from banks, financial platforms like PayPal, shipping companies like DHL or famous email providers. Usually, the content of the letters mentions some unauthorized transactions or other information that may worry the recipient.

The email itself contains very little information, and the supplementary data is supposed to appear in the attached file. If you make the mistake to download or open it, you may infect your machine with Nesa Virus. The problem may also happen if you install programs like Adobe or Java from random suspicious platforms like the majority of porn sites.

 What May Follow If Nesa Virus Ransomware Finds a Way into Your System?

If this Trojan sneaks in, it will not reveal its presence immediately. It will first perform an encryption of all partitions of your hard disk. Depending on the amount of files you have there, the process may take between 15-20 mins and a few hours. Nesa Virus uses a ‘strong’ encryption, which would be either RSA or AES. These ciphers are indeed difficult to break without the corresponding key. Unfortunately, this tool cannot be extracted from your system because it is simply not there. As soon as the encryption ends, Nesa Virus automatically transfers the key towards distant hosts, which serve as Command and Control (C&C) servers. As of now, there is no data that some security researcher has managed to breach into these databases, but it may happen in the future. Nesa Virus encourages the user to pay a ransom in the form of Bitcoins, which varies from hundreds to thousands of dollars worth. The person has limited time to act – only several hours, which is a scare mechanism. The key is supposed to get destroyed when the timer reaches zero.

 What to and Not to Do After You Lose Your Files Due to Nesa Virus Ransomware?

The first and most important thing to remember is not to succumb to the pressure. No matter how the hackers threaten you, you should not pay the ransom. It is true that the sum is not that high in comparison to other file-encoding Trojans, but even if the hackers receive your money, they may not release the precious key. Or if they do, you should expect them to continue creating and spreading more ransomware, which means you may get infected by a similar cyber threat anytime in the future. The right action is to delete Nesa Virus immediately. Since this parasite compromises various areas of the system, it will be best to eliminate it via special security software. Preparation before removal of Nesa Virus:

1.Make sure to backup your files.
2.Make sure to have this instructions page always open so that you can follow the steps.
3.Be patient as the removal may take some time.

Step 1: Reboot your computer in Safe Mode:

1) Hold Windows Key and R

2) A run Window will appear, in it type “msconfig” and hit Enter

3) After the Window appears go to the Boot tab and select Safe Boot

Step 2: Cut out Nesa Virus in Task Manager

1) Press CTRL+ESC+SHIFT at the same time.

2)Locate the “Details” tab and find malicious process of Nesa Virus. Right-click on it and click on “End Process”.

Step 3: Eliminate Nesa Virus‘s Malicious Registries.

For most Windows variants:

1) Hold Windows Button and R. In the “Run” box type “regedit” and hit “Enter”.

2) Hold CTRL+F keys and type Nesa Virus or the file name of the malicious executable of the virus which is usually located in %AppData%, %Temp%, %Local%, %Roaming% or %SystemDrive%. Usually, most viruses tend to set entries with random names in the “Run” and “RunOnce” sub-keys.

3) You can also find the virus’s malicious files by right-clicking on the value and seeing it’s data. After having located malicious registry objects, some of which are usually in the Run and RunOnce subkeys delete them permanently and restart your computer. Here is how to find and delete keys for different versions.

Step 4: Scan for and remove all virus files, related to Nesa Virus and secure your system.

Rule 1: Refunds on Tatkal tickets too!!!!!

Travel plans sometimes come knocking out of the blue. And when you have to travel by train – Tatkal tickets are your only last minute choice. Till not so long ago Tatkal tickets were non-refundable. However, with the new Railway rules all this have changed and you can now claim refunds on Tatkal tickets too. So if your train is delayed by over 3 hours or there is a change in route of your train and it misses your station – you can rightfully claim your refund. Also, if a train is short terminated due to any natural calamity or technical problem, then the full fare paid for the booked journey will be refunded. In such a case, the passengers should surrender their tickets to the Station Master of the station where the train got short terminated.

Rule 2: Sleeping hours for middle berth occupant!!!!!

The rule says that any occupant of the middle berth cannot keep the berth up beyond the sleeping hours. The sleeping hours have been earmarked between 10 PM to 6 AM. The berth should be lowered after the said time to accommodate the smooth seating of co-passengers.

Note: The rule mandates that all the passengers should be comfortably seated in the lower berth during the day hours. So, having the middle berth up beyond the earmarked hours is actually an offence.

Rule 3: The rule of two stops!!!!!

In case you miss the train from your designated boarding station, the TTE cannot allocate your berth to anyone else until the train passes the next two stops or during the next one hour (whichever is earliest). The rule thus allows you to board the train from the next upcoming station, if that is feasible. Once the train has passed the upcoming stop (or the time line), the TTE is free to allocate the seat only to the next person on RAC list.

Note: On missing the train you need to file a TDR and if sanctioned you will get a 50% refund on the base fare. You can cancel a ticket 3 hours after the train’s departure from your boarding station if the journey was for a distance of 200 KM; 6 hours after – for a journey of 201-500 KM and 12 hours if the distance is more than 500 KM.

Rule 4: Toilets for locomotive drivers!!!!!

It has been 163 years since the first train chugged in India, but till date, the locomotive pilots (drivers) have to ignore their nature’s call for hours as there is no toilet in the engine. The logic against providing such a basic facility, is to avoid unnecessary train delays (as trains have to be stopped while the driver uses toilet).

Note: In the last Rail Budget some special engines were commissioned with the provision for lavatories. But none are in action till date!

Rule 5: Carrying birds in train!!!!!

If you want to travel with your avian bird then you have to adhere to certain Indian railways rules. First of all, you cannot carry the bird along with you in the regular coach. Your bird will be treated as freight and placed in the luggage van. Chapter 10 of the Indian Railways Commercial Manual, clearly states that: “the responsibility for the well being of the bird (in this case) lies with the owner.” You have to fill up a form where the value of the bird, their number (in case you are carrying multiple birds), the number of cages and its dimensions should be clearly mentioned. It is the responsibility of owner to provide food and water for the bird while in transit. As you will not be allowed into the luggage van, so stock the cage with sufficient water and food to last the journey.

Note: Indian Railways does not permit the transportation of exotic bird species, and even parrots fall under such category. So seek clarification (about Bird species in question) before booking.

Rule 6: Refund policy for lost tickets!!!!!

Suppose you have an upcoming journey, and find that somehow you have lost or misplaced the ticket/s, there is still a way to go ahead with the journey. You can approach the Chief Reservation Supervisor at the boarding station and submit an application requesting the issuance of a duplicate ticket. Alongside the application you would be asked to submit a xerox copy of identity card.This request would be entertained only until 24 hours before the journey time. After inspection, the duplicate ticket would be provided on payment of a nominal processing fee. In case, you find the original ticket, you can claim refund on processing charge for the duplicate ticket. To get such refund you need to furnish the original as well as duplicate ticket to the same official.

Note: When a duplicate ticket is issued, your ticket gets blocked. You can no longer cancel or alter this ticket any further. This is done to protect railways from fake claims, where another person finds the ticket and pockets all the refunds from cancellation.

Rule 7: Prices of packed food within the station premise!!!!!

The Railways Act of 1989 clearly states that the IRCTC authorized food vendors selling packed food items or water bottles cannot sell their goods over the MRP. Any vendor if caught in the act, would be punished with a hefty fine and may have the license cancelled. Railways have a toll free number of 1800111321 (and paid number is : 139) to register complains in this regard.

Rule 8: Extending the journey!!!!!

During the peak seasons, many passengers have to book tickets to an earlier station than their original destination (dictated by unavailability of tickets). In such instances, there is a provision to extend the journey upon informing the TTE before reaching the destination station. In such case, the TTE will collect the extra fare and issue a ticket for forward journey. You might be provided a different berth though for this forward journey.

Note: You might have to carry on the remainder of journey in chair car if a vacant berth cannot be found.
